Just what the heck is going on at ESP Games?! They release two mind-blowing turn-based strategy games, and then just stop!
This may very well be the thought lingering on your mind for the last 6 months (at least), but rest assured that we’ve been considering our next steps intently, and have several game ideas churning through the tubes of development.
It will be very interesting to see what the next generation of consoles brings, and how well indies are supported on all platforms. It could well be that the next game from our studio launches on more platforms, or even on mobile.
We’ll keep you posted!
Today Miasma 1 went live on Desura, which means both games are now available in the same place!
There are free demos for both if you’re new to the series and would like to give it a try.

Miasma 2 has been out on Xbox for just over a month, and on PC for a couple of weeks, and it’s been very exciting seeing reviews of the game pop up on the internet. Here are some of our favourites:
Indie for Breakfast
“It’s a fresh, fun and strategically interesting take on turn-based strategy.”
The Indie Ocean
“Both of the Miasma games have a lot going for them.”
“A tactical thriller well worth [the] time and money.”
Thanks for reviewing, playing, or reading about the game! If you haven’t done any of those things yet… What are you waiting for??
We’ve just released the PC build of Miasma 2 on Desura, so please head over there to grab your copy immediately!
It can be installed through their (Steam-like) client, but you can download an installer for it, too, if you prefer. It’s currently on sale for an embarrassing £1.49 (50% off), and there’s a free demo available too, if you want to see how it runs on your PC.
Have fun and spread the word!
Miasma 2 is now available to download on the Xbox Marketplace!
You can get to it from the Xbox dashboard by going to:
Games -> Game Marketplace -> Right one tab (downloadable games) -> Indie. It’s currently in the ‘new releases’ section, but you can also search for it by name, or look it the ‘strategy’ category.
Or you can queue it up using this link:
We’ve worked incredibly hard over the last year and a half, so we hope you enjoy it!
The PC version is stable and ready for release, so if you’re a journalist and would like to review Miasma 2, please get in touch.
Here are some assets as well, for anyone who wishes to put anything on the web, or just ‘Miasma Up’ their life a little bit.
Well, drat. We found another bug in the Xbox version of Miasma. It had flown under the radar for a while because it was related to some of the new movement grid UI, and only showed itself when you upgraded a character’s action points a few times (hence making the movement grid larger).
We pulled the build from XBLIG, and we’ll resubmit this Saturday afternoon. Hang in there, strategisers!
There’s a chance now that the PC version will beat the Xbox to release! Only time, and rigorous compatibility testing, will tell.
At ESP Towers we’re pretty sure we’ve fixed the last (very persistent) bug in Miasma 2 Xbox, which means we’ll be good to re-upload a build for testing on Friday. With any luck, it’ll be in review for a month or so, and then make it onto the marketplace.
If there’s any interest, we might even go into some details regarding The Last Bug, a tale touching on disaster, angst, elation, frustration, romance, and eventually relief. Well, maybe not romance.
In order to get a sweep of user feedback and help us improve the compatibility of Miasma 2, we’d love to get some of you guys playing it and letting us know how it runs on your system.
So if you’d like to beta-test the PC build of Miasma 2, please email us at email@example.com, and let us know your following specs:
Operating System: (e.g. Windows 7 64-bit)
Processor Speed: (e.g. 2.8 GHz Core 2 Duo)
Memory: (e.g. 2GB)
Graphics Card: (e.g. nVidia 460 GT)
Then, as long as you meet the minimum requirements, you will be sent a link to download an expiring beta build of the game. Send us some useful bug reports or suggestions and you’ll get your name in the credits.
We’re looking forward to hearing from you!
At ESP Games HQ, we’re putting the last few bits of polish, gameplay balancing and duck tape onto the Xbox build of Miasma 2, and soon we’ll submit it for peer review on XBLIG.
So to whet your appetite, here’s the official release trailer for the game. Enjoy!
